Elements and Performance Criteria
- Monitor the transfer of hazardous materials on an aerodrome
- Location and timing of transfer is determined
- Hazards are identified, risks are assessed and hazard management is implemented
- Transfer of hazardous material is monitored to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures
- Breaches of standard operating procedures are logged and reported
- Apron areas are inspected for serviceability and identified spills, leakages or damage are reported
- Respond to a hazardous materials incident
- Correct category of spill is determined
- Incident is reported to appropriate emergency response agency as required
- Safety information on handling hazardous materials is located and utilised
- Operational procedures and equipment for responding to a hazardous materials incident are employed
- Notice to Airman (NOTAM) advisory action is taken or cancelled as required
- Awareness of work health and safety (WHS)/occupational health and safety (OHS) and environmental implications of a spill is maintained
- Spill clean-up or control operations are supervised
- Hazardous material incident register and records are maintained
